The mission of the City of Flagstaff is to enhance the quality of life of its citizens while supporting the values of the community. The Flagstaff City-Coconino County Public Library supports this mission by providing services, materials, and electronic access to information that will meet the diverse needs of adult and youth residents of Flagstaff and Coconino County.
Collection
The public library system serves a combined population of approximately 116,000 adults and youth. The library collection includes: books, magazines and other periodicals, newspapers, CDs, DVDs, as well as many other materials, held at the Main Library, East Flagstaff Community (Branch) Library, County Bookmobile, and PALSmobile. There are 39,500 registered cardholders.
Community
Located at 7,000 feet elevation, Flagstaff is the county seat and the regional center of northern Arizona. Flagstaff is a community rich with cultural diversity and beauty. It is home to Northern Arizona University, Coconino Community College, Lowell Observatory, where the planet Pluto was discovered, and the Museum of Northern Arizona. Nearby scenic attractions include: Grand Canyon National Park, Sunset Crater, Wupatki, and Walnut Canyon National Monuments, and the Arboretum at Flagstaff. The area also borders the Navajo and Hopi Indian Reservations. Major sources of employment are tourism, government, and education.
